Q. What is your favorite Aveda product, and how do you use it?
A. Control Force Hairspray. I use it on damp hair for a blowout that will last for days as well as dry hair for that perfect finish to any style.
Q.What is your biggest hair no-no? Fashion no-no?
A. I would have to say my biggest hair “no-no” would be the “Snooki” bump-it on the top of your head. That style should never be worn unless you’re going to a theme party. As far as fashion goes, I think it is an opportunity to express yourself, however I absolutely disagree with popped collars & socks with sandals.
Q. What was your most touching or emotional experience while you had someone in your chair?
A. A little girls hair that I cut for the first time since her first hair cut ever. She grew her hair really long and she wanted to cut it all off into a bob and donate it. Her favorite teacher in school had cancer and she wanted to make sure that her teacher had at least one wig to wear. It was so touching because she was so young and had this realization of what her teacher needed.
Q. What is your biggest pet peeve in the salon?
A. I would have to say it is probably when someone says I have no idea what I want but they give distinct things that they don’t want, so it is hard to find what they do want. I don’t like when people operate out of fear. I like distinct bullet points of what they are looking for and I can use my creativity to give it to them.
Q. What is the best way to communicate these ideas?
A. Pictures help get on the same page. Words can mean two totally different things to different people. Or use your hands to show angles. Stylists are visual people.
Q. If you could have any hairstyle, what would it be?
A. I have always wanted long hair like Brad Pitt in the 90’s but im too impatient to let it just GROW!
